Lima, Sept 07: National soccer teams from Peru and Paraguay prepare for World Cup qualifier. Peru are at home to Paraguay on Saturday (September 6) in a World Cup qualifying game that is part of the first round of a series lasting more than two years. Peru has had four previous World Cup appearances and placed eighth in the last qualifiers, but the squad feel they can do better next time. Paraguay has made six World Cup appearances, making it into the second round in 1990, 1998 and 2002 and placing 4th in the last qualifiers. The South American World Cup qualifying competition starts on Saturday with 10 teams playing each other twice. The top four qualify directly for Germany 2006 and the fifth plays off against teams from other Confederations for another place.
