Chandigarh, July 07: Lashing out at SAD chief Prakash Singh Badal for calling Congress president Sonia Gandhi as anti-Sikh, six Punjab minister's today accused the Akali leader of "politicising" the anti-corruption drive by the Amarinder Singh government. Criticising Badal for terming the anti-corruption drive of the Congress government in Punjab as "political vendetta" against Akali leaders and workers, the ministers said Badal was the "most corrupt leader and confirmed liar".
"If the drive against corruption was part of any political vendetta, then Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh would not have sacked his own (forest) minister Harbans Lal following his indictment in a forest scam," they said.
In a joint statement here, local bodies minister Jagjit Singh, finance minister Lal Singh, PWD minister Partap Singh Bajwa, excise and taxation minister Sardool Singh, irrigation minister Gurchet Singh Bhullar and public health minister Jasjit Singh Randhawa said that the Chief Minister had repeatedly assured Badal that the state government would place all the relevant evidence against him before the courts and it was for the judiciary to decide his fate.
While referring to various allegations levelled by SAD against Amarinder Singh through a newspaper advertisement today, the ministers clarified that with regard to the Rs 5000 crore loan from the international finance consortium the approval of the loan was pending with the Central government.
