Madurai, Sept 16: The 'Joint Action Committee of Secular and Democratic Parties and Organisations' in Tamil Nadu said its members would show black flags to VHP general secretary Praveen Togadia during his proposed visit to the city today. The JAC, which has members from various political parties including the Congress, Janata Dal(S), CPI, CPI-M, Puthia Tamizhagam, DPI and other organisations, in a release here said the committee workers at a recent meeting also requested the police and the district administration to take steps to maintain law and order during Togadia's visit.
The members have requested the authorities to place adequate restrictions on his movements and ensure that he does not make inflammatory speeches, it said.
"JAC wants cases to be registered against Togadia if he violates restrictions," the release said, adding police should also ban his proposed Trishul distribution programme.
