Patna, Mar 20: The Election Commission has ordered transfer of the District Magistrates of Gaya, Saran and Jehanabad in Bihar following reports of gross irregularities committed in their respective districts with respect to the rationalisation of booths, official sources said here today. The Commission had asked the state government to replace the three district magistrates with immediate effect, they said.

The DMs to be shifted are Brajesh Malhotra of Gaya, Baidyanath Mishra of Saran and Santosh Kumar Mal of Jehanabad.

Sources confirmed that the Commission had received complaints of the alleged irregularities in rationalisation of booths in these districts.

The transfer of the Saran DM before polls assumes significance as RJD supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav is all set to contest from the Chapra parliamentary seat, which falls under Saran, against Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy. Bureau Report
