Bellary, June 27: Former Karnataka minister and ruling Congress MLA S R Kashappannavar died on the spot in a collision between his car and a lorry between Hosalli and Kudligi in Bellary district in the early hours today, police said. Fifty-three-year old Kashappannavar was proceeding to Bangalore when the mishap occurred, which also left his driver seriously injured, police said. Kashappannavar who was the minister of state for small-scale industries, was a member of the assembly for the third time from Hungund constituency in Bijapur district. Bellary district Superintendent of Police Hemanth Nimbalkar visited the spot.
The body would be handed over to the family after performing the postmortem at Kudligi, police said. Bureau Report
