Guwahati, Oct 16: One woman was feared to have drowned after two boats collided and capsized in the Liapuli river in Dhemaji district of upper Assam last night, a senior police official said here today. The incident occurred when Asom Gana Parishad members were returning home in the two country boats after a party meeting, superintendent of police T Thangeo told news persons.

One of the boats carrying 14 persons was caught in a fishing net and the other boat with five people collided with it, Thangeo said. Eighteen people were rescued by fishermen and the local people, Thangeo said, adding rescue operation was on to trace the missing woman, Naduki Dutta. Bureau Report
