Dhaka, Nov 29: Bangladesh will send a formal invitation letter to India to attend the ministerial meeting of the Joint River Commission (JRC) between them here early next year, Bangladesh's water resources minister said today.
Major (Retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed told a private TV channel that his Indian counterpart Arjun C Shetty will be invited this week for the next round of JRC meeting scheduled in the later part of January.
Hafiz said that Shetty had agreed to attend the Dhaka meet during the last JRC meeting held in New Delhi recently.
The minister said as in the Delhi meeting, Bangladesh will renew its objection to India's planned river-linking project which it fears will have devastating impact on the lower riparian country.
