New Delhi, Sept 15: The Delhi High Court today rejected the bail application of a Kashmiri separatist leader who is lodged in Tihar under Pota on charges of receiving money from Pakistan High Commission here to fund terrorist activities in India. A bench comprising Justice Usha Mehra and Justice Pradeep Nandrajog dismissed the bail plea of Shabir Ahmad Dar, saying the prosecution was justified in having reasonable cause to suspect that the money was meant for terrorist outfits in Jammu and Kashmir.
Dar, who looked after the affairs of Hurriyat's Kashmir awareness bureau here, was arrested on February 6 last. Police had also seized Rs 2.15 lakh from him allegedly received from Pakistani High Commission and meant for terrorists.
Delhi police had arrested Anjum Zamrooda Habib of Muslim Khawateen Markaz from outside the Pakistan High Commission and claimed to have recovered over Rs 3 lakh from her, allegedly received from Pakistani High Commission. Dar was nabbed following her disclosure.
A raid on the bureau's office here had also yielded a list of terrorists lodged in Tihar jail. Police had also accused Hurriyat's former chairman Abdul Ghani Bhat of using the duo to channel money from then Pakistan Deputy High Commissioner Jaleel Abbas Jilani to various terrorist outfits.
The revelation had led to a diplomatic standoff between India and Pakistan and Jilani was forced to leave the country.
However, both Jilani and Bhat were placed only in column two of the chargesheet - filed in the court- Jilani in view of the diplomatic immunity he enjoyed and Bhat for lack of sufficient evidence to nail him.
