Chennai, Mar 17: The Congress will come out with an economic vision document to expose the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) economic ''mismanagement'' in the last six years and counter its 'India Shining' advertisement blitz. Announcing this at a press conference here, Arjun K Sengupta, co-chairman of the economic affairs wing of the All India Congress Committee, said the vision document, to be released soon, would also highlight the economic policies to be pursued by the Congress at the centre after coming to power. Launching a frontal attack on the BJP for ''mismanaging'' the economy, Sengupta, also a professor at the Harvard school of public health, said that in total contrast to the 'India Shining' campaign, the country had, in the last six years, witnessed decline in growth rates in some spheres and negative growth in others.
He said the country had witnessed seven to eight per cent growth rate during the regime of Congress under the Primeministership of P V Narasimha Rao and the party had even set the tone for more than eight per cent growth in the coming years. But the BJP, which replaced the congress, failed to keep up the momentum and lost the potential for growth.
Stating that the country was facing a crisis, the Congress leader warned that if the BJP was voted back to power, the country would plunge into a more serious economic crisis.
