Chandigarh, July 02: Seven new judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court were today administered oath of office by Chief Justice of the High Court A B Saharya. With swearing in of justices Vinay Mittal, Virender Singh, Satish Kumar Mittal, Hemant Gupta, Surinder Singh Saron, M S Kiran Anand Lall and Surinder Grewal, the strength of the High Court judges has gone upto 33. Work has been withdrawn from three judges Justices A S Gill, M L Singhal and Mehtab Singh gill after their names reportedly figured in confessional statements of some alleged touts in the cash-for-job scam involving PPSC Chairman Ravinder Pal Singh Sidhu. Asked what next step was being contemplated in case of the judges from whom work had been withdrawn, Justice Saharya declined to comment on the issue. "This is a solemn occasion (for any remarks)," Justice Saharya told a news agency soon after the ceremony.
