The painting fetched $170m (£113m). The painting was sold at Christie’s after a bidding battle, according to a report by The Guardian.

It was the second highest price ever achieved at auction for a work of art.

Reportedly, the painting was bought by a Chinese taxi driver turned billionaire art collector.

Reclining Nude is considered to be one of the best known works of Modigliani. The painting also created a ruckus when it was first exhibited in Paris.
