Thiruvananthapuram, July 26: CPI-M led Left Democratic Front (LDF) opposition members today staged a walk out from the assembly dissatisfied with the governemnt reply on the incident of police lathicharge on SFI students during the 'students' march'.

Replying to the notice of adjournment motion moved by opposition in the matter, finance minister, K Sankaranarayan justified the police action and said students who took out the march yesterday indulged in largescale violence and caused damage to public property. Sankaranarayan, speaking on behalf of chief minister, said government would deal sternly with such violence to maintain the law and order situation in the state adding that six cases have been registered for destroying public property and those found guilty would be punished.

Justifying the government decision to allow plus two courses in unaided sector, he said as the proclaimed policy it was the duty of the government to create sufficient facilities in education sector, he added. Bureau Report
