Bangalore, Aug 27: The troubled European carrier Swiss International Airlines is set to exit Delhi this winter and fly only out of Mumbai as part of its global route rationalisation plan, officials said. Swiss is also moving out of Beijing. Last year, it briefly suspended flights from India when it faced a severe financial crisis and near closure. The airline was revived with an estimated $2bn assistance from several agencies including the Swiss government.

Swiss presently offers six flights a week from Delhi to Zurich and a daily from Mumbai. It operates an Airbus 330 in a three class configuration with 194 seats from both these gateways. Air India, which pulled out of Switzerland some years back has a codeshare with Swiss now. From November 1, Swiss will operate the Mumbai service without a first class.
It will have a refurbished business and an economy class with an increased seating capacity of 224. Bureau Report
