Aizawl, Oct 30: Besides contesting from Champhai, where he won four times consecutively since 1987, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga would fight from Kolasib in the November 20 assembly election.
In the Mizoram-Myanmar border constituency of Champhai, Zoramthanga, a Mizo National Front (MNF) nominee, would lock horns with former chief minister and PCC chief Lal Thanhawla.
Zoramthanga won from Champhai in 1987, '89, '93 and '98 while Lal Thanhawla won from the constituency in '78 and '79.
In Zoramthanga's second seat Kolasib, MNF candidates repeatedly won since 1987. Only in 1993, Congress-Mizoram Janata Dal alliance won from the constituency.
Lal Thanhawla would also contest from Serchhip, where he won in 1987, 1989 and 1993. However, he lost to K Thangzuala in 1998 when he was the Chief Minister.
Besides Zoramthanga and Lal Thanhawla, others who would contest from two seats were Zoram Nationalist Party chief Lalduhawma (Ratu and Aizawl South-II) and JDU president Lalawmpuia Khiangte (Kawrthah and Aizawl West-II).
As per the list of candidates, MNF would contest in all the 40 constituencies and all ministers, barring one, and MLAs were given re-nomination. Industries Minister K Thangzuala would not contest due to health problems, party sources said.
