Dubai, Dec 01: Indians and Pakistanis came together to enjoy the sonorous sounds of qawwali organised by the Indian Consulate in Jeddah last week.
The beat of the tabala overwhelmed the expatriates from the two countries working in Saudi Arabia at the Mehfil-e-Qawwali presented by Nazeer Ahmed Khan Warsi and party.
It was an occasion to remember because of the presence of Pakistan consul general Masood Akhtar at the concert venue of the International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) on the third day of Eid.
A news daily quoting the Indian consul general Syed Akbaruddin said,'' The arena of qawwali is that of humanity. It has no borders or boundaries.''
The audience applauded when Akbaruddin thanked Akhtar, who presented mementos to Warsi and his qawwali troupe members, for accepting the invitation to attend the event.
