Jaipur, Mar 10: Calling it a ``Season of Muslim appeasement in Indian politics``, the VHP today hit out at the BJP-led government at the centre and announced it will set up parallel civil defence committees to check recurring terrorist strikes across the country.
The VHP also flayed the ongoing Indo-Pak peace moves, saying the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government was repeating a blunder of the kind late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had committed when he gave the Hindi-Chini ``bhai-bhai`` slogan in the 1950s.
``We would not `feel good` until the Ram temple is constructed, till the safety of every soldier and policeman on counter insurgency duty is ensured,`` VHP general secretary Praveen Togadia told a news conference here, expressing strong disapproval of Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani`s statement that the Gujarat violence was a blot on the NDA rule.
The VHP would campaign aggressively with an eleven-point `Hindu agenda` for a ``decisive impact`` in the Lok Sabha polls, he said. The VHP would support candidates who work on the Hindu agenda, he said. Presenting what he called was a ``terror budget``, Dr Togadia claimed there had been as many as 602 terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir over the past two years. More than 13,000 soldiers and policemen and as many as 70,000 civilians had died in insurgency related incidents across the country. More than 5.25 lakh security personnel had been deployed on counter-insurgency duties.
Yet there was no let up in terrorist attacks, he said, citing yesterday`s `fidayeen` strike on the Press Information Bureau building in Srinagar. ``We are sending cricketers, while they are sending fidayeen,`` he said calling the peace overtures to Islamabad and the proposed new bus and train services to Pakistan as a ``mistake``.
``Akhand Bharat ka jiska sapna hai, woh Pakistan se baat nahi kar sakta (those dreaming of an `Akhand Bharat` cannot enter into a dialogue with Pakistan)``, he said.
