Mumbai, July 06: Dismissed CISF jawan R Namdeo, who was arrested on the charges of gunning down a senior officer and holding colleagues as hostages at the international airport here on may 24, has moved a bail petition urging to release him on humanitarian grounds. His bail petition would come up for hearing before Sessions Judge N D Deshpande tomorrow. Namdeo is defended by well known criminal lawyer Majeed Memon.

The petition urged that Namdeo was not a criminal but a disgruntled and disgusted employee whose terms of conditions were very stringent. He was deprived of concessions in the service and in an impulsive mood he had gunned down his senior.
Namdeo urged that he had no intention to commit the crime but had done it in a fit of rage. The act did not fall within the ambit and scope of Section 302 IPC (murder), he said.

Namdeo's bail petition said a person could not be held in custody as a punitive measure and this was an extra ordinary case in which intention to kill was totally absent.

Namdeo said that he was totally disillusioned with the behaviour of the deputy commandant and therefore shot him dead. Instances of unrest was on rise and the court should take into the consideration the abnormality displayed by him before and after the firing, he pleaded.
He said that few days before the alleged shoot-out he had unsuccessfully attempted to commit suicide by consuming rat poison. This showed that he was dejected and frustrated.

Namdeo had shot dead his senior A Karanjkar and held six colleagues in captivity on May 24 in the security area of Sahar terminal at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
