Guwahati, Feb 27: Making trenchant criticism of the performance of the NDA Government at the Centre, senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee on Friday accused the BJP-led combine of borrowing his party's economic agenda and its faulty implementation and making political expediency its guiding principle.
"BJP-led NDA Government has failed miserably on all fronts. Even its economic agenda, borrowed from the Congress, is faulty in implementation," he told reporters.
"Its communalised polity has destroyed the social fabric of India and political expediency is its guiding ideology. Promises it made are nothing but cheap publicity stunts," he alleged.

Dismissing the NDA Government's claims of economic performance in its press advertisements, Mukherjee asserted that the Government's performance was below that of the previous Congress Government.
The former Union Minister claimed that the GDP growth during the NDA Government had fallen to 5.5 per cent from the Congress level of 6.7 per cent and agriculture growth halved to 2.02 per cent from 4.62 per cent.
Similarly, industrial growth was down to 4.6 per cent now from 8 per cent, domestic savings was 23.5 per cent from 25.1 per cent, while the annual employment came down to 1.07 per cent from 2.7 per cent during the Congress regime. Bureau Report
