Shillong, Mar 03: The PA Sangma-led faction of Nationalist Congress Party appears likely to choose a "rose" as its symbol in case the Election Commission freezes the "clock", over which it is at loggerheads with the Sharad Pawar-led faction. The party's Meghalaya unit president, Edmund K Sangma, on Wednesday said that the Election Commission is going to decide over the party's claim over its "clock" symbol in a few days. If the Commission decides to freeze the "clock", it may ask the parties to choose between a "rose" and a "wristwatch".
Both Sharad Pawar and PA Sangma factions are at loggerheads over the control of the original party ever since they parted ways in the wake of the Maharashtra strongman's decision to align with the Congress for the coming Lok Sabha polls — a stand strongly opposed by Sangma. A three-member poll panel had already heard the two factions on February 13 and reserved its orders — a verdict crucial for both the factions ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. Bureau Report
