Patna, June 09: The coordination committee of Left parties in Bihar have decided to unitedly contest the forthcoming elections for the 24 seats of Bihar VidhanParishad. A decision to this effect was taken at the meeting of Left coordination committee at ajay bhawan-- the state headquarters of the CPI here yesterday.

CPI state secretary Jalaluddin Ansari said here today that the CPI and CPI-M at a meeting attended by other Left parties decided to contest the 24 seats of the council with other Left parties Forward Bloc and Socialist Unity Centre of India, agreeing to give outside support to the candidates.

The meeting, called to field a common candidate, was attended by Ansari, Krishnakant Singh of the CPI-M, Nripendra Krishna Mahto of the Forward Bloc and Amriteshwar Kumar Chakrvarti of the SUCI.
The election office has fixed July 10 for election to 24 seats for the council being held after a gap of 23 years.

Newly-elected mukhiyas, district board members and panchayat samiti members would be among the electorate to decide the fate of contestants.

Meanwhile, the CPI-ML, which did not attend the Left coordination meeting, decided to boycott the July 10 elections for filling up 24 seats of the upper house of the Bihar Legislature.
