Madrid, July 24: Spanish coach Gregorio Manzano took charge of Atletico Madrid today in place of Luis Aragones. ''In terms of history this is the third biggest club in Spain,'' said Manzano, who guided Real Mallorca to victory in the King's Cup last season.
''This is the biggest challenge of my career. We'll all work hard to get the most out of the squad,'' he said. Manzano had spells in charge of Valladolid, racing Santander and Rayo Vallecano before joining Mallorca at the start of last season.
Aragones was released by Atletico earlier this month after two years in charge. He won promotion from the second division in his first season and guided the side to a respectable 12th position in the top flight last term. Bureau Report
