Islamabad, July 19: Pakistan Prime Minister Mir
Zafarullah Khan Jamali has sought public support to stamp out
the menace of terrorism and sectarianism.
"All sections of the society have a responsibility
towards supplementing the government's efforts for stamping
out the menace of terrorism and sectarianism," Jamali said at
an inter-provincial conference to review law and order
situation.
Expressing his government's determination to combat
and eradicate terrorism in all forms, Jamali directed law
enforcing agencies not to allow any political interference.
"Political expediency should not be a hurdle in the
smooth functioning of the law enforcing agencies and there
should be no consideration or concession for anyone," Jamali
was quoted as saying by daily 'The News'.
Speaking to police chiefs from across Pakistan who had gathered at the conference, he said "Pakistan was facing a sinister conspiracy" by terrorists, who want to destabilise President Pervez Musharraf's government and frighten potential investors away.
"They wanted to deprive the people of the fruits of development by discouraging prospective investors," he said. Bureau Report
