San Jose, Feb 13: American Taylor Dent was ousted in the second round here Wednesday at a 380,000-dollar ATP event.
Fourth seed Dent, the son of a former Aussie star, was upset by American wild card Robert Kendrick 6-4, 6-4 in a second-round match.
Kendrick will face American Robby Ginepri or France’s Cyril Saulnier in Friday’s quarter-finals. South Korea’s Lee Hyung-Taik defeated Belgium’s Xavier Malisse 7-6 (7/1), 6-1 to book a second-round matchup against American sixth seed Vince Spadea for a quarter-final berth against third-seeded American Mardy Fish.
Fish, who lost only five games in winning his first match of the year, advanced to the quarter-finals by holding off Denmark’s Kenneth Carlsen 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7/2). Also reaching the final eight was American Jan-Michael Gambill.
