New Delhi, May 24: Promising to maintain high double digit export growth on a sustainable basis, the new Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath on Monday said the new Exim policy will minimise procedures and reduce transaction cost. Addressing his maiden press conference after assuming office , he said that the new Exim policy will be unveiled by June end or July.
"We would begin the consultation process from this Thursday."
He said the policy would reflect the priorities of the new Government in terms of employment generation and promotion of agro and rural sectors as well as initiatives to boost services and manufacturing sector.
Nath said he would also reconstitute the Board of Trade to create an institutional mechanism for consultations on Exim issues.
In a bid to make the consultation process more transparent and effective, he said he would be constituting a core advisory group consisting of 25-30 large exporters so that Government and industry can work together to boost exports.
"The effort would be to make the Ministry enabling and not a disabling one," he said.
