Nine accused in Maha stamp-paper scam remanded to police custody
Nasik, June 18: A local court has remanded nine members of a gang, including a suspended employee of India Security Press (ISP) here, to police custody till June 25 in connection with the theft of stamp-papers worth Rs 85 lakh, from the press.

The city police took custody of the gang members from
Kalyan police yesterday.
The stamps were allegedly stolen between April 27-29, 2002 by entering into ISP's CSD department by using a ladder and breaking the cement roof, according to police.
The accused were identified as Prabhakar Ganpat Pawar his wife Sarla Pawar, son-in-law Kailash Dongre, daughter Sheetal Dongre, Shaikh Jakir Hussain Mohmed Issak, Paresh Budhhade, Shailesh Buddhadev, Sandeep Krishna Salve and Chandrakant Savarkar, police added.
Police said Prabhakar Pawar, suspended ISP worker and the main accused yesterday demonstrated to the police how they had entered the ISP premises.
Working on a tip-off, Kalyan police last week had arrested these persons in Dombivali's Manpada locality and seized stamps worth Rs 35 lakh while they were trying to sell them.
