Srinagar, Nov 11: Police today detained militant-turned human rights activist Mohammad Ahsan Untoo as he attempted self-immolation in front of the United Nations military observers' group at Sonawar here alleging increasing custodial killings in Kashmir, official sources said. Untoo was taken into detention around 11.30 am soon after he sprinkled kerosene oil on his clothes. The policemen sprung on him before he could set himself ablaze, sources said. Untoo had attempted self immolation several times in the past too to highlight the rise in alleged human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir. Bureau Report
