New Delhi, Sept 28: Denying that charges against the Deputy Prime Minister were diluted, CBI Director P C Sharma today said it was "very premature" to say anything on the next course of action in the wake of the Rae Bareli court discharging L K Advani in the Babri Masjid demolition case.
"It is very premature to say anything. It is very premature for anybody, particularly for a professional like me, to say anything as to what I will do without going through the judgement," he said in a radio interview.
Sharma denied that the CBI had diluted any charge against Advani saying "no court will spare us if we suppress or hold back any information relating to the case under trial from the court”. Brushing aside the charges levelled against the CBI by several political parties, Sharma said, "Firstly, I will not like to comment on this case because the judgment in the case has not been received by us and after all, it is not the CBI who has acquitted or discharged anybody, it is the court." To a specific question about building up a weak case, Sharma said, "It is not a question of building up the case. Case is as it was registered, as it was investigated, as it was chargesheeted by the UP Police. After we received the order of the Supreme Court that this case should go back to the Rae Bareli court, we sent it. Everything concerning this case, be it tapes, audio, video documents and the list of witnesses and their statements, nothing has been left out." Bureau Report
