New Delhi, June 09: A day after the opposition parties in Uttar Pradesh decided against parading their MLAs before governor Vishnu Kant Shastri, BJP today dismissed as "tall claims" their bid to topple the government in the state. In a statement here, BJP spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said these parties having failed to muster the numbers even after getting support of Rashtriya Lok Dal of Ajit Singh, who recently left the NDA, were only making "tall claims" of support but have failed to do so.

"Depressed over the success of NDA government at the Centre and the successful functioning of BSP-BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress and Samajwadi Party alongwith those who have left NDA are now trying their luck by saying they would go to the people," he said.
Naqvi described the opposition bid to topple the BJP-BSP coalition in the state as "absolutely irresponsible behaviour by these parties."

Asked whether BJP was ready to face elections in the state, he told reporters "BJP is always ready to face elections anytime."
