Pondicherry, July 05: After achieving commendable success in the software sector, the Centre was now aiming to develop hardware industries in the country, Union MoS for Communications and it S Tirunavukarasar said today. Inaugurating the website and wide area network containing details of the activities of agriculture department, he said the Union minister for communications Arun Shourie had initiated discussion with several leading industrialists to promote hardware industries in the country.
In the software sector, the country exported software worth over Rs 50,000 crore of which the share of southern states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh was Rs 25,000 crore.
Karnataka alone exported software worth Rs 12,500 crore in the last ten years, he said.
Handing over educational software to over 200 schools in Pondicherry, he said all state government should ensure that it was utilised to the maximum for e-governance and expeditious administration. Bureau Report
