Mumbai, Nov 11: Amitabh Bachchan as the over-the-top don flinging women out of his speeding Limousine may not have had takers in Kaizad Gustad's non-thriller Boom , but that does not deter Bollywood from parodying the underworld. Coming soon to theatres are a clutch of films spoofing the gangland baddie, with Sanjay Dutt spearheading the show. It should come easy to him, since Dutt played a good don called Munnabhai in David Dhawan's comic caper Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin last summer.

In Vidhu Vinod Chopra's production Munnabhai MBBS , Sanjay Dutt's Munnabhai wants to be a doctor as his father (real-life dad Sunil Dutt) wants. But Munnabhai ends up as a gangster, who carries on the charade of being a doc for his upright father.
In his home production Plan , Dutt is Musabhai, a rich businessman who controls Mumbai's gangland. In this comedy thriller, Musabhai is abducted by four desperate youngsters oblivious of his identity and out to make quick money.
Ad filmmaker Shashank Ghosh's first feature Waisa Bhi Hota Hai is a dark comedy revolving around underworld criminals.
"The good versus evil theme has always been there in Bollywood. The seriousness becomes monotonous after some time, that's why you see this variation in the underworld flicks," says industry journal Trade Guide 's editor Taran Adarsh.

Considering most gangster films after Ram Gopal Varma's Satya and Company looked like derivatives , this one should be a welcome alternative.
