Jaunpur , Feb 09: Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat today stressed the need to expand higher education in the country. Speaking at the annual convocation at the Poorvanchal University in Janupur, Shekhawat said only 50 lakh students were receiving higher education in the 270 universities of the country. He said though India had taken great leap in science and technology, the problem of poverty, unemployment and illiteracy was still rampant. Shekhawat exhorted the students to become good citizens and contribute towards the development of the country. Bureau Report
