Pampore (Kashmir), Dec 01: Defending the release of some detenus, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, Mufti Mohd Sayeed today denied allegations that his government was releasing militants and said some of those released in the recent past had no serious charges against them.
"Government released some people against whom there were no serious charges but the issue was outstretched and blown out of proportion," Sayeed said at a massive public meeting in this saffron-growing town of Pampore today. The Chief Minister asserted that he would continue to build consensus at the national level for a dialogue to end the ongoing bloodshed and sufferings of the people.

He said that such consensus would ultimately emerge as the largest political party (Congress) appreciated the need for a dialogue and the NDA government at the Centre also understood the need to provide a "healing touch" to the situation. There is no alternative to win over the hearts of the people for ushering in a positive change," he said after disbursing financial assistance to saffron growers whose crop had been hit for the third season due to drought this year.
