Jakarta, Jan 23: Asean members have agreed to set up a task force in their respective countries to beef up the ongoing measures in the fight against terrorism, Indonesian police chief, Gen Dai Bachtiar said here. The idea of the task force, introduced by Indonesia, was one of the proposals submitted during the three-day Asean workshop on combating terrorism which ended here. "Within a month, each Asean member country should submit the names, telephone and fascimile numbers and e-mail addresses of each of the task force to the other members of Asean," Bachtiar said yesterday when giving details on the outcome of the workshop here. He said that through the task force, Asean member countries could extend help to their neighbours which fell victim of terrorism activities, like Indonesia.

Indonesia found itself under spotlight when a deadly bomb blast ripped through a busy tourist district in Kuta, Bali, on October 12, last year, where 193 people mostly foreign visitors were killed and more than 300 others injured.
Also included in this collaboration and cooperation effort were the evacuation and medical treatment of victims and forensic and laboratory test on evidence found on the ground, he said.
