New Delhi, Aug 04: The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament is likely to table its report in Lok Sabha on Thursday on the CAG's findings of irregularities in Kargil purchases after continued impasse with the defence ministry on not handing over the Central Vigilance Commission's findings on the issue. The committee has decided to go ahead with tabling its findings on the observations made by CAG as the government has not been forthcoming in making available to it the CVC's parallel report on the Kargil arms procurement deals, sources said.

The deals in question aggregate to a sum of over Rs 3,000 crore in purchase of what the CAG report described as Bofors 155 mm shells from South Africa which had completed its shelf life, defective eliminated shells, snow combat boots of smaller size worth Rs 30 crore and the Kargil coffins. The PAC, sources said, had also got no reply from the Ministry of Defence on where the Rs 4,000 crore public funds collected for the Kargil operations were spent.
