Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat on Thursday briefed Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf on the situation in the West Asia and sought Islamabad's support for its cause. Arafat, who made a brief stop-over in Islamabad on his way to Beijing, briefed Musharraf about the Israeli policy of using excessive force, economic strangulation of the Palestinians and the recent Israeli seizure of Orient House in East Jerusalem, An official statement issued by the Pakistani government at the end of his visit said. The two leaders also discussed the recent diplomatic initiaives for peace in the region including implementation of Mitchell Report and its recommendations. Musharraf reaffirmed Pakistan's unequivocal support for the Palestinian people and extended full support for the implementation of the recommendations of the Mitchell Report, the statement added.
