Guwahati, Oct 27: The Assam government would oppose any move to shift the North Eastern Regional Office of the Industrial Investment Bank to Kolkata. In a statement here, Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi, said that the government would oppose 'tooth and nail' the reported move to shift the office.
Refuting the allegation made by the All-Guwahati Students Union that he had not taken proper initiative for industrial development of the state, Gogoi said that the government had taken the lead to create a congenial atmosphere for investment in the state.
The government also accelerated the pace of development by declaring a number of incentives in the new industrial policy including decision to exempt sales tax.
The Chief Minister said that he would take up the matter with the ministry of banking about the reported move to shift the bank's regional office.
