EC reviews poll arrangements in Uttaranchal
Dehradun ,May 03: The Election Commission today reviewed poll arrangements in Uttaranchal and decided to deploy 70,000 police and civil personnel to conduct the May 10 Lok Sabha elections in the state.

deploy 70,000 police and civil personnel to conduct
the May 10 Lok Sabha elections in the state.
After holding high-level meetings with top government
and police officials , Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami
told reporters that he was satisfied with the arrangements
being made in the hill state where 52.62 lakh voters would
exercise their franchise in the last phase of the elections
for five seats.
A total of 6819 polling stations would be set up in the
state, he said. Out of these, 722 have been declared as
sensitive while 432 are hyper-sensitive.
The Election Commissioner said nearly 70 per cent voters
have been issued identity cards and added that the remaining
can use any of 14 documents for the purpose of identification.
