Nanded (Maharashtra), Nov 26: Curfew was relaxed in the trouble torn Itwara locality and neighbouring town of Parbhani during the day following further improvement in the situation.
Official sources said the authorities today decided to relax the curfew for 14 hours in Itwara and 19 hours in the neighbouring Parbhani town as there was no untoward incident reported in the last 24 hours.
However, in both the troubled areas, the authorities had clamped curfew from midnight last night till 0500 hrs today as a precautionary measure.
''The situation is very peaceful and at least 25,000 people had joined the 'Eid Namaz' on the occasion of 'Eid-ul-Fitar' at the Idgah Maidan in the city at around 1000 hrs,'' a senior police official said. Talking over telephone from Parbhani, District Collector Madhukar Chaudhary said the curfew was clamped in the town last night as part of the precautionary measures and the situation had shown further improvement.
He said there was possibility of the curfew being re-imposed from midnight today till early tomorrow morning.
It may be recalled that Parbhani had witnessed violence after a bomb attack on a place of worship had injured over 30 people last Friday. The subsequent violence in both areas had left more than 24 injured. Bureau Report
