Patna, Aug 10: CBI sleuths have unearthed movable and immovable assets worth about Rs one crore in raids in offices and residential premises of four Customs Department officials here, agency sources said today.
The raids were conducted after the CBI secured search warrants against them from a Patna court in connection with a customs department-related case, the sources said. The raids were conducted at the office and houses of Nagvansh Singh, Ashok Kumar Singh, both superintendent ranking officials in the department, Pankaj Kumar, an inspector of the department and Abhash Kumar, an inspector in the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) yesterday, they said. The agency officials said that assets worth Rs 45 lakh were detected during searches at Nagvansh Singh's houses. Besides, papers relating to a three-storeyed house in Bank of India colony, Digha, jewellery worth Rs two lakh, papers relating to purchase of two vehicles, shares and investment papers in non-banking organisations, an ATM account were also located. The sleuths found papers relating to a four-storeyed house at Dekanpura in the name of Ashok Kumar Singh, besides documents of bank deposits, owner books of two vehicles from his house.
Search operations in the residence of Pankaj Kumar yielded Rs 50,000 in cash, huge deposits in the saving bank account and papers relating to purchase of a flat here, the sources said.
Documents relating to purchase of a flat besides two plots of land and a car were found from the house of the DRI officer Abhash Kumar, they added.
