Muzaffarnagar, Nov 17: The Bhartiya Kisan Union will be holding its 'mahapanchayat' in Lucknow from today, BKU chief Mahendra Singh Tikait has said. "BKU would now hold its 'mahapanchayat' on November 17 in Lucknow to raise the issue of problems being faced by the state's farmers, Tikait said while addressing farmers at Chapar.
The BKU had also its panchayats at Sisoli on October 21 and at Badaun on October 25 in order to prepare for the Lucknow panchayat.
Tikait has been asked to make preparations for his followers who are to reach Lucknow today to participate in the mahapanchayat.

Meanwhile, BKU activists burnt the effigy of chief minister Mayawati, protesting the banning of the BKU's proposed mahapanchayats in Lucknow earlier.
On two occasions, the government had banned the proposed BKU mahapanchayats in the state capital. Bureau Report
