New Delhi, Oct 14: Turkey today sought an increase in bilateral trade with India arguing that current trade volumes were far below the potential level despite the presence of favourable factors. "The present trade between Turkey and India is not upto the potential," Turkish ambassador to India Hasan Gogus said at an interactive meeting organised by Assocham with a visiting Turkish business delegation.
"I am not disturbed by the fact that Turkey's imports from India are more than its exports, but what is important is that the trade between the two countries should increase," Gogus said.
Lack of information about each other's countries and not having direct flights were among the reasons for the low volume of trade, the Turkish ambassador added.
Turkey has already registered huge trade volumes with the EU and CIS countries and Turkish companies were building industries, factories and plants there, Mehmet Okan, Turkish delegation member said. Bureau Report
