Quetta, Aug 06: A rocket apparently fired by Afghan forces slammed into a remote southwestern Pakistani border region but no damage or casualties were reported, a senior regional government official said today. The rocket exploded yesterday outside the border town of Chaman, 150 km northwest of Quetta, the capital of Pakistan's southwestern Baluchistan province, Mohammed Aziz Saqib told media. It was not immediately clear what prompted the Afghan forces to fire the rocket. Aziz said Pakistani troops did not return fire. "We just lodged a protest with the Afghan officials and asked them to refrain from such acts in future," he said. Saqib said regional Afghan officials have apologized to Pakistan for the attack.
