Indore, July 16: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh today accepted the challenge from the BJP for a debate on the issue of development in the state. "Let them decide the time and venue and I will debate with all of them on the issue," Singh told reporters at the helipad here.

Alleging lack of development in the state, Union ministers Arun Jaitley and Ravishankar Prasad had challenged Singh for a debate on the issue.

On the imposition of mass fine on a community in Rajgarh district recently to check atrocities on dalits, the chief minister while justifying the fine, said violence against dalits could not be tolerated.

"However, the community can appeal against it so that the fine amount can be minimised," Singh added.

Regarding formation of coalition with other parties, he said it would depend on the political situation prevailing at that time.

The party has an alliance with RPI in the state, he added.
To a query on senior Congress leader Arjun Singh's remarks regarding groupism in the party, Singh downplayed the issue saying, "it is present in each and every family" and added it was not dominant in the party.
