Shillong, Apr 18: A patient here has alleged that his right kidney was recently removed by a surgeon at a local nursing home without his consent, police said today. Police said the patient, Jela Lyngdoh, lodged an FIR on Wednesday last, accusing Surgeon Dr D Shome, of allegedly removing his right kidney "without his consent" during an operation at a nursing home here. The doctor has been accused of "cheating, fraud, theft, breach of trust, mischief and causing loss and damage to his (patient's) body and life," by Lyngdoh, demanding his immediate arrest, police said.
The patient has also demanded cancellation of the doctor's medical licence and registration, they said.
The doctor, however, denied the allegation and said "it was done to save Lyngdoh's life".

The nursing home authorities, meanwhile, said the patient was an outdoor patient of the physician and they had nothing to do with the matter. Bureau Report
