Ayodhya, June 21: The VHP today said the report of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) team studying the articles recovered during excavation of the acquired land here would "prove" that a temple pre-existed the Babri mosque. "Many experts are of the opinion that terracota pieces depicting animals like snake, elephant and Hindu dieties, which were found likely belonged to the Gupta or Kushan period of ancient India. Similarly, some mould brick of Gaharwar period were found, which was Hindu kingdom in 12th century ad," VHP media in-charge Sharad Sharma, said in a press statement, here today. "The facts should be verified based on the historical background of the articles to give a clear picture of the excavation in Ayodhya," Sharma said. Bureau Report
