Thiruvananthapuram, June 14: As part of intensifying its stir demanding CBI probe into Marad violence that claimed nine lives, VHP in Kerala today said it would stage a dharna
before the secretariat on June 16, the day budget session of assembly begins.
Addressing a meet-the-press programme, organised by Kesari
Memorial Journalist Trust here, VHP state general secretary,
Kumannon Rajasekheran, said the parishad in association with
various Hindu organisations had chalked out detailed agitation
programmes against the "anti-Hindu" policy being pursued by
the state government.
Describing the crime branch probe into the Marad violence as "mere drama”, he said government was not making any "sincere" attempt to find the real people and organisations behind the incident.
He alleged that government instead of taking effective steps to apprehend the real culprits behind the carnage was harassing the activists of Hindu organisations who organised meetings to explain about the incident.
There was no question of co-operating with the cabinet sub-committee set up by government to restore peace in Marad as "we do not have any faith in that committee”, he said.
VHP has also planned to hold dharnas before district collectorates on June 20 and to launch a signature campaign in support of its demand.
