Madrid, Sept 13: Three well-known movie actors will
receive lifetime achievement awards at the 51th San Sebastian
International Film Festival, organizers said today.
Isabelle Huppert, Sean Penn and Robert Duvall Will
receive the Donostia Award at the nine-day event, which
begins Sept 18 in the seaside town of San Sebastian in
Spain's northern Basque region.
"Despite the fact that (Huppert) has played the part
of, let's say, not very recommendable heroines, she has
always given them an ambiguity somewhere between pain and
humour which is doubtlessly one of her greatest virtues as an
actress," festival organisers said in a statement.
The festival organisers said Penn was "an actor who
respects his ideas in both his life and his work. In not very
many years, Sean Penn has shown that he is the worthy heir of
an actor stock dating back to James Cagney in the thirties,
Bogart in the forties, or Pacino in the seventies."
The festival said it would pay tribute to US actor
Duvall, "a face of unmistakable power, Duvall's work always
guarantees solidity. Considered as being one of the moment's
greatest actors."
