Lucknow, Aug 11: President A P J Abdul Kalam today exhorted
the scientific community to take their research to the farms to help
the farmers gain from their studies.
Addressing the silver jubilee celebrations of Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) here today, Dr Kalam asked the scientists to be involved in biotechnology and life sciences to increase interaction with the farming community and help them grow herbs and plants with medicinal values.
''You have to connect with the farmers so that herbs grown by them could be used in pharmaceutical plants and hospitals where they are required,'' he said. The President felt that as the farmers already know about plants and herbs, little effort from the experts could help the country achieve economic growth.
