New Delhi, Oct 07: BJP today demanded that Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi resign immediately in the wake of the CBI filing a chargesheet against him and that he had given false documents regarding his claim of belonging to a tribal community.
"The CBI has chargesheeted Jogi and even a Shahdol court has found him guilty of submitting false certificate. We demand that he should resign immediately," party spokesman Prakash Javdekar told reporters here.
He said that Jogi has been a civil servant and should have been aware of the fallout of giving false documents and "such a person has no right to remain in office."
The party condemned the attitude of the CPI(M) towards the verdict by the high court of Kolkata banning rallies in the city during the day.
"Those who tell us daily to await court verdict should themselves accept it. Instead, the communist party when it finds something going against its interests, they are opposed to it," Javdekar said.
He sought immediate action by Mumbai CID department against Samajwadi Party MP Abu Azmi for his alleged links with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
This has been clearly stated in the report prepared by the Mumbai Crime Branch.
