Mayawati welcomes CBI probe into Taj project
Lucknow, July 16: Chief Minister Mayawati today welcomed the CBI inquiry into the Taj heritage corridor project as ordered by the Supreme Court, saying it would help bring out the facts before the people.
Lucknow, July 16: Chief Minister Mayawati today welcomed the CBI inquiry into the Taj heritage corridor project as ordered by the Supreme Court, saying it would help bring out the facts before the people.
" As soon as the government came to know of some anomalies
in the project, it had ordered an inquiry at its level and now that the Supreme Court has ordered a CBI probe into the matter it would help unravel all the facts about the project she said in a statement issued here .
The chief minister hoped that with the Supreme Court
ordering a CBI probe, "allegations and counter-allegations
would come to an end and irresponsible statements would cease"
Assuring all possible help in the conduct of the
inquiry, she said that she was of the firm belief that all
those found having worked against the norms and undermining
national heritage should be taken to task and remedial steps
taken to undo the damage.
Mayawati had earlier suspended the environment secretary R K Sharma for sanctioning the project which was against the norms. She had also asked the principal secretary, finance, N C Bajpai, to conduct an inquiry. Bureau Report
